I saw this post pending in queue which was supposedly posted two years before, during the elections.
After two years, nothing much has changed. But I still want to believe in every Filipino. Whoever leads us, WE still make the decision to make or break ourselves.
“a cuckoo that just came out of the nest”
I have just watched Nicanor “Nicky” Perlas, running for Philippine Presidency talk about his views, theories and principles. It was my first time to encounter the man. Despite that his name does not make it on surveys, he believes he could win if “new politics” would prevail when “winnability virus” is controlled. According to him, the masses are inflicted by a virus that solely lives in popularity as host and that spreads through money. But despite all odds, he believes in good will and that stands firm in discrediting money as an operative tool for winning.
Whatever theory he has, the key concept is that he still believes.
I once believed in the living legacy of the two heroes who have united and drawn the masses out of their houses and into the streets in order to create change. They succeeded and they departed from the living by once again gathering people into the streets. To most of us, they left but their principles will never die. And so we turn to the living legacy they left—the tactful and strong bald man in yellow, that we believe would continue the change these heroes have started.
Most believe. I believed. Only until that day when i saw that touching and yet empty music video. I had goosebumps all over, but as it draws to end, it just confused me whether I should still stand firm in a person whose feet are planted on superficial grounds that has twisted truth through a circus—the media.
I have nothing against artistas really, nor do I intend to degrade them. But just as their line of work is, they act and so they internalize themselves into a role to entertain people, not primarily to educate or motivate them.
